India’s Bold Step to Eliminate Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women, and India bears a significant share of this burden—accounting for nearly one in five cases globally. However, a major health initiative is now underway to change this reality.

India has launched a nationwide campaign to increase HPV vaccination rates, a critical
step in preventing cervical cancer. To ensure the success of this initiative, the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) is conducting virtual training for over 11,000 doctors. The aim is to combat misinformation, spread awareness, and encourage more people to get vaccinated.
